The Soroptimist International of Igorots was chartered on June 30, 2014 with the presence of SIPR Governor Minda A. Garcia and SIPR Chair, Public Awareness, Cherry Tumaneng and guest speaker, La Trinidad Mayor, Edna Tabanda. As the Inducting Officer, SIPR Gov. Minda A. Garcia emphasized the mission of Soroptimist as “to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world because we are the best for women, helping women to be their best. La Trinidad Mayor, Edna Tabanda encouraged the new club to really be involved with the women of the communities and in the barangays to uplift their lives through livelihood programs. The inducted charter officers were Rose Marie Pal-a Dulnuan as President, Margarita Tuban Bataclao as President Elect, Imelda Guinid Madrid as Vice President, Judeeh Ann Nierva as Corresponding Secretary, Imelda Pacsi Sedano as Recording Secretary, Estella Florendo as Treasurer, Dina Peres as Auditor, Christine Pal-a Dulnuan as Public Relations Officer and as Directors, Divina Cose Mencio, Elena Cayabyab, Francisca Gatchalian and Aida Abalos Khosbooei. As a response to the challenge, SI Igorot President Rose Marie proclaimed, “I am an Igorot and through my veins runs the blood of the mighty Ifugaos who built the Banawe rice terraces, the hardworking Benguet women who till the cabbage and potato terraces of the Mountain Trails, the patient and courageous Mt. Province women who carry pails of water on their heads through the narrow pathway of the Baguio City market, the brave Benguets unconquered by the Spaniards. Yes, we are the new face of the Igorots and we will work to make the best of the Igorot women. The chartering of SI Igorots ushers the creation of the North Central Luson District with leadership of District Director Philian Wegan-Allan, SI Cordillera President Chona Neres as District Director Elect, SI Igorots President Rose Marie P. Dulnuan as Secretary and Si Pines President Ancy Alabansa as Treasurer.
