Soroptimist International
of Bagong Marilaw
About Us
Chartered: November 27, 2016

Soroptimist International of Bagong Marilaw was chartered on November 27, 2016 at Rosalie’s Place, Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan, with 25 members. SIBM was first chartered in 1990 up to 2014, the lapse of two(2) years was brought about by the unavailability of the president to be. Hence, the SI Marilao has become inactive for two consecutive years. In the middle of 2016, past SIA Federation Director Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica, and the 1st charter president of SI Marilao Purificacion A. Juliano agreed to reactivate the club in order to renew old members and invite new members to start a new endeavor. After series of meetings, the club gathered around 25-active members, and come up with a new name. Hence, the New Soroptimist Bagong Marilaw was born.

PROJECTS
Continuing/Sustained

For the club’s continuing project, we have an adopted and nurtured PNP WCPD (with MOA) Women’s Desk. PO1 Jonirose Fontanilla represents SIBM Marilaw, and she was sent to Cebu for purposes of attending the 10th Biennial PNP summit 2018 on September 25, 26 and 27, 2018, together with more or less 500 delegates from different clubs in Philippine region. The aim of this summit is to further enhance their knowledge in conducting investigation on cases involving women and children, but most of all, their physical, emotional and spiritual involvement in handling cases related thereto. PO1 Jonirose Fontanilla is now conducting seminars on VAWC(Violence against women and children) in relation to club’s project named “Stop RISA!”( Rape, Incest, Sexual Abuse). Seminars are given to public and private schools in Marilao.
