About Us
Chartered: on April 24, 1972
Soroptimist International of Quezon City (SIQC),
the premier SI club in the Metro Manila Northeast District came to life on April 24, 1972, the date it was chartered by Retired Court of Appeals Justice Lourdes P. San Diego, who would become the club's Charter President.
SIQC Foundation, Inc. was later on organized, on February 3, 1997, by club members under the leadership of then SIQC President Mency Zuñiga. The foundation provides financial and material support to the various programs and projects of SIQC. The club president sits in the Foundationís Board of Directions as an ex-officio member. The early projects include the Search of Model Families; Magandang Lahi SIQC'sIn the ensuing years, SIQC has actively participated in the six Programs of Service of the Soroptimist of the Philippines Region (SIPR): Economic and Social; Environment; Education; Health; Human Rights; and International Goodwill and Understanding. Theang Filipina; Kabuhayan sa Kaunlaran; National Photo Contest on the Girl Child; Summer Art Workshops for elementary school children of Quezon City; an Art Exhibit entitled Walong Pilipina-Alay kay Tandang Sora; and Ugnayan sa Barangay Seminars. The club has worked alongside other civic organizations, womenís groups, and local governments on environmental projects, medical missions, seminars and advocacy programs for the advancement of womenís rights, and for improving the lives the families in communities.
